Booking a room at a luxury hotel is an exciting experience for most avid holidaymakers. Whether it’s a luxury suite, a room with a view or a pent house, staying away from home for a night or two has never been more liberating. But with coronavirus weighing on people’s minds, most travellers’ priorities have changed when it comes to booking a hotel room.
Founder of Little Emperors Rebecca Masri spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about some of the hotel booking trends that have emerged since the coronavirus pandemic struck earlier this year.
Little Emperors is a private travel club that offers members affordable luxury and value for money.
The members club was founded in 2009 by Masri, and has since garnered an impressive 35,000 members.
The luxury hotel club offers its members unparalleled exclusivity, unlocking a world of grandeur hotels which include the likes of The Connaught, the Four Seasons on Park Lane and The May Fair in London.
Masri explained that she believed that luxury hotels will maintain consumer confidence due to their cleanliness.
“I think the luxury segment is considered to have a much more thorough level of sanitation,” she said.
She continued: “There is the assumption that you are in safe hands with a well-known luxury brand.
“It’s really the luxury hotels who will maintain the confidence of members more so and I definitely think there will be a trend towards that.”
However, although sanitisation is a key factor nowadays, Masri said Little Emperors has noticed a more prominent trend.

“We’ve also seen a trend towards people booking bigger rooms which is interesting,” she said.
“We’ve done more junior suite level [rooms] upwards in the last couple of months when bookings came back.
“Perhaps people feel they might spend more time in their rooms or they need more space.”
She explained that outdoor space has also become an appealing factor for members of Little Emperors.
She said: “It’s the hotels that offer a lot of outdoor space, outdoor activities – there’s a trend there in the fact that people have been stuck at home over the last few months or cooped up in cities.
“They’re suddenly getting away and they want to breathe.
“Mountains, fresh air, seaside – they want to be outdoors and have things to do.
Masri said her and her team at Little Emperors had received some “interesting feedback” from clients that have been going back to the same destination every year.
“They had only ever sat by the pool,” she explained.
“And this year for the first time, they’re actually exploring the local neighbourhood.
“They’re doing more outdoor activities in the local area.”
Little Emperors prides itself on full transparency with no add-ons assuring the lowest rates available to members.
“If you do find a lower rate somewhere else we’ll match it,” Masri added.
Masri explained: “As a business proposition we’re adding value whether that’s through negotiated corporate rates or through the leisure business which is often of added value like complimentary breakfasts, upgrades hotel credit, that’s the value we’re adding to our clients.”
