Queensland has recorded one new case of COVID-19, as the premier faces even more pressure to open the state’s borders.
Annastacia Palaszczuk confirmed on Twitter on Tuesday morning the person is an overseas arrival who is already in quarantine.
It takes the total number of active cases in the sunshine state to 31, with more than one million tests conducted.
The under-siege Labor premier held firm on Monday on her resolve to do everything she could to keep Queenslanders safe, even if it meant losing the October 31 state election.
Ms Palaszczuk made no apologies for the state’s strong border measures, despite what she described as “relentless” political attacks on her government and chief health officer.
“If it means I have to lose the election, I will risk all that if it means keeping Queenslanders safe,” she said on Monday.
“I will always stand up for what I believe to be right in this state.”
